Philip II, AD 244–249. AV Aureus. (20,5 mm. 4,4 g.). Rome. M IVL PHILIPPVS CAES, bare-headed, draped bust right. Rev. PRINCIPI IVVENT, Philip II standing left, holding globe and spear. RIC 218a; Cohen 46; Calicó 3275. Undoubtedly among the finest specimens known. Struck on a broad flan, perfectly centered, lustrous and almost Fdc. Of a great rarity.
