Syria, Uncertain mint. Circa 30 B.C. AE 29 (29 mm, 15.79 g, 11 h). Bare head right / Fiscus, sella quaestor and hasta; Q below. RPC I, 5410; CRI 958; AMNG 228 (Macedon). aVF.
Although the exact minting location of this type remains unknown, RPC has given it to an uncertain Syrian mint based on individual coin finds and purchases. It parallels the coinage of Cilicia and RPC assigns a date of ca. 30 B.C. Furthermore, it has been suggested that this type portrays Sosius, quaestor in 39 B.C., but the attribution of the Q series of coins to northern Turkey makes this unlikely. None of this coin type have been found in Macedonia.
