Lydia, Nicaea Cilbianorum. Augustus. 27 B.C.-A.D. 14 AE 18 (18 mm, 4.69 g, 1 h). Aratos, grammateus. ΓΑΙΟΣ ΛΕΥΚΙΟΣ, jugate heads of Gaius and Lucius Caesar right / ΑΡΑΤΟΣ ΓΡΑΜΜΑΤΕΥΣ ΚΙΛΒΙΑΝΩΝ ΝΕΙΚΑΙΑΣ, Demos standing left, with outstretched arm. RPC I, 2564; SNG Ödemi 144; SNG Copenhagen 105-6. aVF, red-brown patina, small flan chips. Rare.
A note at the RPC entry for this type says "Hochard 202-3 reports the variants ΝΕΙΚΑΙΑΝ (Lindgren 719) and ΝΕΙΚΕΙΑΣ (various), but these are not clear." The ΝΕΙΚΕΙΑΣ ending on this coin, as well as the Triton specimen, are quite clear. In fact, if it weren't for the Triton coin, this coin could easily be the plate coin for RPC, it is much nicer than the other coins illustrated.
