6th-3rd century BC. A bronze Egyptian Statuette of Falcon Horus (The God of Kings) standing on a round base. The god Horus was depicted in Egyptian art as both a falcon and a falcon-headed man. He was the god of the sky, war and hunting, also he was ruling god of Egypt. Falcons were located on the pharaoh's crown or sitting by thrones, granting the pharaoh his divine right to rule. Provenance: From the property of a London gentleman's family collection, formerly on the European art market 1920s.
