SUPERB HELLENISTIC GOLD AND CARNELIAN LARGE NECKLACE
Ca. 400-300 BC. A restrung necklace comprising tubular carnelian beads, interspersed with biconical and spherical gold beads. Necklaces were part of the feminine costume in the Hellenistic world and were used both for aesthetic purposes and to communicate social messages of status and wealth.
