MEDIEVAL IRON SWORD
Ca. 1300 AD
An iron sword features a parallel double-edged blade, exhibiting a combination of strength and versatility in combat. The blade is characterized by three deep grooves running along its length, enhancing its structural integrity while adding a distinctive visual element. At the tip, the blade tapers to a point, enabling accurate thrusting maneuvers and piercing strikes. The iron hilt of the sword is designed with functionality and hand comfort in mind. It includes ring quillons that extend from the crossguard, curving strongly downwards. This design feature not only provides protection for the wielder's hand but also enables effective parrying and defensive maneuvers. The hilt itself tapers towards quadrangular shallow pommel, ensuring a secure and comfortable hold during combat. Medieval iron swords were essential weapons during a time characterized by conflict, warfare, and the chivalric code. These swords served as primary weapons for knights, warriors, and soldiers of the period. With their robust construction and well-designed blades, they were capable of delivering devastating cuts and thrusts in battle. The deep grooves on the blade not only reduced its weight but also allowed for better maneuverability and improved balance, enhancing the sword's effectiveness in combat situations.
