GREEK TERRACOTTA STATUETTE OF APHRODITE
Ca. 400 - 300 BC A Greek mould-made terracotta figure of a standing Aphrodite. She holds a fan in her right hand, and wears only a himation that falls off her shoulders to pool around one lower arm and her lower body. Her hair is arranged in a pretty, wide chignon at the nape of her neck and two long side-braids. She is leaning with her head tilted downward, her body artfully arranged in a chiasmus pose that emphasizes her figure. For similar see: Christie's Antiquities (Live Auction 5488), Lot. 268.
