ROMANO-CELTIC BRONZE HEAD OF WOMAN
Ca. 100 BC - AD 100 A Romano-celtic bronze head of a woman or goddess, perhaps depicting Aphrodite (Roman Venus), the goddess of love and romance, cast via the lost wax (cire perdue) process, with an elegant presentation. With her head tilted ever so slightly to the left, she presents a face with circular-shaped eyes, arched brow lines that lead to her slender nose, full closed lips, and smooth skin. Her delicate face is framed by a swept back wavy coiffure that is skillfully rolled to a fanciful looped chignon and adorned by a lovely diadem.
