COLLECTION OF 5 EGYPTIAN FAIENCE USHABTI

Third Intermediate Period, Ca. 1069 - 664 BC A collection of five faience shabtis covered in layers yellow/pale brown glaze. The figures stand in mummiform with fused legs and feet, holding a black-painted pick and hoe. On the back of the figures there is a depiction of a black seed bag hanging from both rounded shoulders. A black-painted hieroglyphic inscription is enclosed with a thin box atop the front of the legs.
Size: 58-57mm x 19-19mm; Weight: 29g
Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s; previously in 1970s UK collection. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
