Description

Nero (54-68). AE Sestertius. Lugdunum mint, c. 65 AD. Obv. NERO CLAVD CAESAR AVG GER PM TR P IMP PP. Laureate bust left, globe at point of bust. Rev. ANNONA AVGVSTI CERES SC (in exergue). Annona standing right, hand on hip and holding cornucopia, with head lowered toward Ceres seated left on throne, holding torch and grain ears; between, modius on garlanded altar; behind, ship’s stern. RIC I (2nd ed.) 391. AE. 26.12 g. 36.00 mm. Attractive portrait. Significant corrosion spot on obverse and traces of smoothing, otherwise Good VF.
