Sicily. Syracuse. Hiketas II (287-278 BC). AE Litra. Struck circa 282-278 BC. Obv. ΔIOΣ [EΛΛANIOY]. Head of Zeus Hellanios right, wearing laurel wreath. Rev. ΣYPAK[OΣIΩN]. Eagle standing left on thunderbolt. HGC 2 1449; CNS II 167; SNG ANS 824; SNG Cop. 793. AE. 8.36 g. 25.00 mm. A dramatic and fascinating overstrike on obverse. Warm brown patina with green earthen dusting. Good VF.
