Description

Hadrian (117-138). AE Sestertius, Rome mint, c. 119-121 AD. Obv. IMP CAESAR TRAIAN HADRIANVS AVG PM TR P COS III. Laureate bust right, with slight drapery on left shoulder. Rev. RESTITVTORI ORBIS TERRARVM SC. Hadrian standing left and extending hand to raise up kneeling female figure wearing a turreted crown.In the middle, a globule (the 'compass dot'). RIC II 594b. AE. 22.76 g. 34.50 mm. R. Rare. Lovely glossy deep olive green-brown patina, with emerald green spots on the edge. About VF/VF. The dot in the centre is the result of using a compass to engrave the linear border.
