PB Byzantine lead seal. Imperial kommerkia of the dioikesis of Kyzikos. Leo III the Isaurian with Constantine V (AD 734/735).
Obv: Busts of Leo III (left) and Constantine V; both are bearded and wear chlamys and crown with a cross. Linear border.
Rev: Inscription of seven lines, border of dots.

Unpublished and a unique seal. Also, historically highly important. This seal mentions the vassilika kommerkia adjusted to the dioikesis of Cyzicus. The imperial kommerkia were customs warehouses located at strategic spots throughout the empire. It is the first known example of Kyzikos, which had a commercially important port.
