Poland (Warsaw Mint) 5 Zlotys (Złotych) 1932 - Nike
17.92g. XF-/XF+. Despite minor scratches, an attractive specimen with some mint luster and light grey toning. Obv.: In the center, the emblem: a crowned eagle with an open crown, flanked by the digits "5" on each side of its wings, with the date and inscription "ZŁOTYCH" at the bottom. Rev.: Depiction of Nike walking on clouds to the right, with the inscription "RZECZPOSPOLITA POLSKA" around the edge. Near Nike's foot are the initials "E.W.," representing Edward Wittig, the designer of the coin. The edge bears the inscription "SALUS REIPUBLICAE SUPREMA LEX" meaning "The welfare of the state is the highest law". KM Y 18; Parchimowicz 114e; Fischer OB 013; Chałupski 2.22.5.a (R6). Extremely rare! This coin is one of the most challenging interwar pieces to acquire. In 1932, rampant inflation caused the silver content of the coin to surpass its face value, leading to the majority of the mintage being withdrawn and melted down. Consequently, this coin is now exceptionally scarce on the numismatic market, presenting a rare opportunity to add the rarest coin of the Second Polish Republic to a collection. This exceptionally rare coin is highly sought after by collectors of interwar coin. This piece is truly a gem for the most discerning collectors. Highly recommended!
