Description

PB Byzantine seal of Constantine Promoundenos, magistros, judge of the Velum and of the Anatolikoi (AD 11th century)
Obv: Inscription of six lines: +Κ(ύρι)ε βοήθει τῷ σῷ δούλῳ Κωνσταντίνῳ μαγίστρῳ Border of dots.
Rev: Inscription of six lines: κριτῇ τοῦ βήλου (καὶ) τῶν Ἀνα[τ]ολικῶν [τ]ῷ Προμουνδηνῷ. Border of dots.
Translation: Lord, help your servant Constantine Promoundenos, magistros, judge of the Velum and of the Anatolikoi.

This person may well be the Constantine Promoundenos who is attested on two seals in the Hermitage (see Šandrovskaja, Sfragistika, nos. 712, 713) as: a) magistros, vestes, judge of the Velum and of the Thrakesioi; and b) vestarches, judge of the Velum and of the Armeniakoi. A Constantine Promoundenos was hypatos and imperial notarios of the sakelle in 1088 (Patmos I, no. 49B, line 291). See also PBW Konstantinos 20304.
