Description

Kings of Macedon, Philip III Arrhidaeus, 323-317 BC. AR Tetradrachm, 16.81 g. - 26.00 mm. Posthumous issue struck under Archon, Dokimos, or Seleukos I, circa 323-318/7 BC. Babylon mint.
Obv.: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck.
Rev.: ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ. Zeus Aëtophoros seated left on backless throne, right leg drawn back, feet suspended, eagle in outstretched right hand, grounded scepter in left; M in left field, ΛY and O monogram below strut.
