Kings of Macedon, Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. AR, Drachm. 4.06 g. - 17.40 mm. Early posthumous issue of Kolophon. ca. 323-319 BC.
Obv.: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck.
Rev.: AΛEΞANΔPO[Y]. Zeus Aëtophoros seated left on backless throne, right leg drawn back, feet on stool, eagle with closed wings in outstretched right hand, holding long scepter in his left hand; spearhead upward in outer right field, horizontal corn grain below strut.
