Ionia, Ephesos. Under Roman Rule, 133-67 BC. AR, Cistophoric Tetradrachm. 12.83 g. - 28.75 mm. Dated CY 3 (of the formation of Provincia Asiae, 132/1 BC).
Obv.: Serpent emerging from Cista Mystica within ivy wreath.
Rev.: EΦΕ civic ethnic to left; bow in bowcase ornamented with aphlaston, flanked by two serpents, heads confronting, Γ (date) to upper left; lighted torchtorch in outer right field.
