Kotys I was one of the significant kings of the Odrysian Kingdom in Thrace, ruling approximately between 384-359 BC. His reign was marked by a period of power, diplomacy, and conflicts within the Odrysian Kingdom. In 376 BC, an alliance was formed between Athens and the Odrysians, but Kotys I later entered into conflict with Athens. This was mainly due to the struggle for control over key trade centers and ports along the Thracian coast.
