dating: 1928 provenance: Colombia, A gift from the city of Barranquilla for the merit of the first non-stop crossing from Senegal to Brazil. Gold medal (14 ct) depicting an airplane flying over the sea. Opus: A. Lombardi. On the reverse side, the dedication 'BARRANQUILLA A COSTES Y LE BRON 21 - 1 - 1928'. With ribbon, on which is a gilded metal American medal marked 'HONORARY MEMBER' on ribbon with bar 'VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS'. In case. Dieudonne Costes (1892-1973); Joseph Le Brix (1899-1931); French aviator and early pioneer of aviation; between 10th October 1927 and 14th April 1928, flew around the world from Paris in a Breguet plane, making the first non-stop crossing of the South Atlantic from Senegal to Brazil. diameter 30 cm.
