ASIA MINOR, Uncertain mint. Octavian(?). Late 1st. Century BC. Æ (26,5mm, 15,95 g.) Bare head right, c/m female head in a round incuse frame. Rev. Fiscus, sella, quaestoria and hasta; [Q] below. RPC I 5409. Fine, nice black glossy patina. This issue has previously been attributed to a Macedonian mint with the portrait identified either as Brutus, Julius Caesar or the governor Gaius Sosius (Cilicia according to RPC.). Very similar stylistically to an early portraits of Octavian. Rare and very thrilling type.
