Macedon, kings. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Silver Tetradrachm (27.8 mm, 16.92 g.). Posthumous issue of Corinth mint, ca. 306-290 BC, under Demetrios I Poliorcetes. Head of Heracles to right, wearing lion skin headdress, paws tied before neck. Rev. AΛEΞANΔPOY – [ΒΑ]ΣΙΛΕΩΣ, Zeus Aëtophoros seated left on a high throne, right leg drawn back, feet on stool, holding eagle and scepter; cornucopia in left field, NO below throne. Price 691. Very fine.
