Description

Israel. Diverse Lot of Judaic Notephily. Includes: (1) Jewish Colonial Trust Stock, 13-1/2' x 7-1/2", issued to Israel Jacobson, March 16, 1911? EF. At each of its four corners are pictures in lithographic print of scenes from the Land of Israel: the Western Wall, a farmer in the field, workers in a weaving factory, and port workers. The Jewish Colonial Trust' was founded at the First Zionist Congress in Basel by Herzl as part of the founding of a "Hebrew bank" whose purpose was to assist in the settlement of the Jews in Argentina, and later in the Land of Israel. A bank business was opened in London, whose important investment was the establishment of the Anglo-Palestine company in 1902. (2) Poland WW2 Lodz Ghetto 1940, 50 Pfennig + 1 Mark + 20 Marks, AU. (3) Theresienstadt (Czechoslovakia) Concentration Camp Money, 1943. Includes 2, 10, 20, and 50 Kronen, all Crisp Uncirculated except 2 Kronen is VF. (4) "1" and "5" Lirot Contribution Receipts from Chasidei Braslev, Jerusalem. The empty chair on the notes indicate that this branch of Chassidim has had no formal leader since the death of their founder Rebbe Nachman of Breslov in 1810. (5) two ration cards issued on April 1916 in Warsaw, by local Polish autonomous institution ("Komisja Rozdzia?u M?ki i Chleba dla miasta Warszawy i przedmie??" = "Flour's and Bread's Distribution Committee for the city of Warsaw and suburbs"), under control of German military occupation authorities. The bigger card includes a voucher/stamp for sugar. Mint State. (6) Last and least is a One Dinar note issued by King Hussein of Jordan, reigned 1952-99, CU. Total of a dozen.
