Dutch Colony. Willem III Proof 1/4 Gulden 1858-(u) PR65 NGC, Utrecht mint, KM305.1, Scholten-752 (unrecorded in Proof). The sole example of this extremely Proof striking we have been able to locate, and one of just two Proofs for the date in the NGC census, with apparently no other coming to auction in the past decade at least. Interestingly unrecorded as such in Scholten's classic catalog, the surfaces are intensively reflective with needle-sharp detailing and a mottling of appealing tones.
