"Railway" gold Medal 1876 AU, 55mm. 154.83gm. .900 fine. By A. Fisch. An impressive and large-scale gold medal struck to congratulate Mr. Ed. Chaudron (Burgomaster) on his persevering efforts, which brought the town a new railway. The obverse indicates a railway inauguration date of September 20, 1876. The reverse translations reads, "Gratitude to Ed. Chaudron the mayor of Frasnes-lez-Gosselies for bringing the the train to our village." By its inscription it would seem that the medal is unique, and this is the only example which we have seen or been able to locate.
