British Colony. Victoria Proof Dollar 1866 PR61 PCGS, KM10, Prid-1A, Dav-245. Reeded edge. Obverse and reverse dies by Leonard Charles Wyon, Royal mint. Struck in the earliest days of the Hong Kong mint, which opened on May 7th, 1866, this impressive dollar exhibits not a hint of wear to the devices. The fields, glossy underneath a fine veil of lilac and steel patination, expresses a fluidity of light and color that leaves no doubt as to the piece's impressive Mint State preservation, with any minor imperfections easily blending in with a surface tone that only heightens the visual impact of this exquisite rarity. A highly recommended selection of this difficult type, and one which could easily go "head-to-head" with more highly graded examples.
