David, as Regent 2 Abazi (40 Kopecks) 1824-AK MS64+ PCGS, Tiflis mint, KM75, Bit-746. Mintage: 32,000. Far and away the finest certified example, not just for the date, but for the type as a whole, across both NGC and PCGS combined. The type saw production from 1804 to 1833, with mintages varying from only 5,000 examples to over 300,000 in those years. The offering at hand represents one of the lower mintage dates for the issue at a total issuance of only 32,000 and displays a preservation that is nearly unheard of, certifying as the only Mint State selection of the date across either major grading service. Across the entire series, PCGS has certified only about a dozen examples, with this offering ranking as the single-finest, the next certifying MS62. The difficulty in locating well-preserved examples is only highlighted further by NGC's census, which shows not a single specimen of the wider type exceeding the MS62 level across more than 90 certified to date. The offering displays strong visual appeal to match its laudable certification, remaining satiny across well-kept surfaces, hints of gleaming luster caressing soft toning accents, which in turn embrace the raised features to emboldening impact.
