BITHYNIA. Heraclea Pontica. Timotheus and Dionysius, as tyrants (ca. 345-337 BC). AR double sigloi or stater (didrachm) (23mm, 9.73 gm, 12h). NGC Choice VF 5/5 - 4/5. Reduced Persic standard. Head of Dionysus left, wreathed with ivy; filleted thyrsus over shoulder / TIMOΘEOY / ΔIONYΣIOY, young Heracles, nude, standing left, lion skin draped over left arm, sheathed sword on strap over back, attaching spear to trophy at left consisting of helmet, round shield and cuirass; head of ram between legs, club leaning against trophy. SNG Stancomb 817. SNG BM Black Sea 1607-1608. HGC 7, 496. Attractive style and nice toning.
