Description

Hupeh. Hsüan-t'ung Dollar ND (1909-1911) MS63 NGC, Wuchang mint, KM-Y131, L&M-187, Kann-45d, Chang-CH137, WS-0833. Variety without swirl on fire ball, no dot in center of Manchu, and broken English letters. A soundly produced specimen for this heavily contested issue in the upper echelons of Mint State, imbued with such a prominence of die polish around the central dragon motif as to nearly be wanting of a finer technical certification. Indeed, a mere scattering of mild chatter on the obverse (reverse as holdered) seems to be all that bounds the assigned grade, with a light dappling of tone and a hint of die clashing around the Manchu characters adding a further degree of character that is sure to delight.
