Andronicus II Palaeologus (AD 1282-1328), with Michael IX. AV/EL hyperpyron (22mm, 2.97 gm, 6h). Choice VF, clipped, graffiti. Constantinople, ca. AD 1294-1320. Half-length figure of the Virgin Mary, orans, within circuit of city walls with six towers; sigla: A-C across fields / A/N/Δ/NI/K-M/X/Λ/ΔE/N, Christ, nimbate, wearing pallium and colobium, standing facing, IC-XC flanking head, crowning Andronicus II (on left) and Michael IX (on right) kneeling to either side, each wearing divitision and loros.
