Marcus Aurelius, as Caesar (AD 161-180). AV aureus (19mm, 7.33 gm, 5h). NGC MS 5/5 - 4/5, Fine Style. Rome, AD 145-147. AVRELIVS CAE-SAR AVG P II F COS II, bare head of Marcus Aurelius right / HILA-RI-TAS, Hilaritas standing facing, head left, grounded palm branch in right hand, cornucopia cradled in left arm. Calicó 1859. RIC III (Antoninus Pius) 432A. Fully struck from high-relief, artistic dies on a lightly toned flan with subdued cartwheel luster. This issue was minted in honor of the marriage of Marcus Aurelius to Faustina Junior, the teenage daughter of Antoninus Pius and Faustina Senior.
