Victoria gold Proof 5 Pounds 1893 PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS, KM787, S-3872. By Thomas Brock. Mintage: 773. A very small mintage issued to as the highest denomination in the 1893 Proof set, which introduced the new 'veiled head' effigy of Queen Victoria and eventually proved to be the final portrait of her long reign. The present offering stands as a remarkable conditional survivor, as out of the total of 149 currently graded Ultra/Deep Cameo examples across PCGS and NGC, the present coin is bested by only five pieces. An immensely tempting offering that is bestowed with immaculate frosting on the raised motifs, rising from the abyss of the near-black fields that carry only minute wisps, rather inconsequential as a whole when considering the overall quality on display here.
