INDIA. Kushan Empire. Kanishka II (ca. AD 230-247). AV dinar (21mm, 7.86 gm, 11h). Choice Fine. Kushan standard, Gandhara, main mint (probably Taxila), early phase. ÞAONANOÞAO KAN-HÞKO KOÞANO, Kanishka II standing facing, diademed nimbate head left wearing jeweled conical hat, jeweled open kaftan with long loose hanging sleeves and arched hemline, over high-collared tunic, trousers, and boots, bracelets on each wrist, sword hanging from waist to right, flames emanating from right shoulder grounded trident in left hand, dropping pellets with right hand over lit altar to left; filleted trident to left, Ga (Brahmi) between altar and leg, Gho between feet, Pri in right field / OhÞO, Ithyphallic Siva standing facing, nimbate with hair in topknot and curls continuing over shoulders, bare to waist, wearing ankle length dhoti with symmetrical folds, erect lingammmm, diadem in right hand, trident in left; the bull Nandi behind standing left, tamgha to upper left, dotted border.
