Louis XIV gold Louis d'Or 1679-N MS62 NGC, Montpellier mint, KM219.8, Gad-248. A lovely Mint State Louis d'Or of the type to feature Louis XIV's most flattering depiction as a young man. The first of a two-year production at the Montpelier mint for this particular type, noted as Rare in Krause. Glorious canary yellow brilliance creates for an excellent viewing experience but a few duller areas of patina possibly limit the grade just below the Choice level.
