Hsüan-t'ung Dollar Year 3 (1911) MS65 NGC, Tientsin mint, KM-Y31, L&M-37, Kann-227, WS-0046B. No period, no extra flame variety. Nearly as fine as one can reasonably expect from this ubiquitous type, with those examples certifying just shy of Gem status found fairly frequently at market, with those decidedly Gem representatives increasingly difficult to source. Admitting few flaws even to the scrupulous eye, the piece wows upon in-hand inspection, embellished by a light champagne aura that intensifies to tangerine towards the peripheries. Blessed with satiny expanses, the fully struck-up dragon projects towards the viewer, making a compelling case for the quality-conscious collector.
