Anhwei. Kuang-hsü Dollar ND (1897) MS62 NGC, Anking mint, KM-Y45, L&M-195, Kann-49, WS-1071. Variety with dot after 7. Notoriously challenging across the entirety of provincial Chinese coinage and the first year of production in the elusive Anhwei Dollar series. Though no production records survive from the Anking mint, the fact that it only operated for three years, with Dollars issued only in 1897 and 1898, clearly points to the supreme scarcity of the series in general and the type in particular. Embellished throughout by a thick satin sheen as the result of a definitive strike, every engraved detail rises to impress, further elevated by a peppering of autumnal tone. To date, only 11 examples have been awarded straight-grade Mint State designations across NGC and PCGS combined, making the current representative of utmost importance to the discerning type collector.
