Description

Leopold II gold Specimen Pattern 100 Francs 1880 SP62 PCGS, Brussels mint, KM-X8b (Rare), Bogaert-1211B1 (AU). A very rare Pattern, one of the most elusive of the entire Belgian series, struck with the same design as the silver issue of the same year but in a gold format. According to the Unusual World Coins guide "fewer than 10 pieces are known to exist", with this offering representing one of these few, sharply struck, with a distinctive medallic appearance to the planchet. A very rare opportunity to acquire an example of this elite type.
