Whiting-231. Diameter 44mm. By Vestner. Obverse: Robed bust of Martin Luther right. Engraver's initial "V" (Georg Wilhelm Vestner) below. Perimeter legend, MARTINVS LVTHERVS THEOLOGIAE DOCTOR, VERBVM DOMINI MANET IN AETERNVM. Reverse: Supplicant holding chalice and cross in right hand, kneeling before altar, facing the name of God in Hebrew. Open book upon the altar inscribed, AD LE GEM ET TESTIMONIVM. Perimeter legend, SI NON DIXERINT IVXTA VERBVM HOC NON ERIT EIS MATVTINA LVX. Exergue legend, IN MEMOR . IVBIL . SEC . LVTHER. Engraver's initial "M" (P. H. Müller) on base at left. 200th Anniversary of the Reformation.
