Ten pages include original authorial annotations written by Newcomb in pencil. Front cover spotted; interior nearly fine. One of the major pre-Sheldon works on U.S. large cents. Copies sold early on in the title's distribution were not annotated; as time passed, discoveries were made and Newcomb changed his mind about a few things, leading him to revise by hand the remaining copies. This copy has quite a number of revisions in the author's distinctive handwriting. Davis 745.
