Printed form [45.5 by 32.5 cm], completed in ink; five brass grommets at left margin, laced with yellow silk, the ends of which are secured by the embossed red seal of the United States General Land Office. (4) pages, accompanied by a hand-drawn plan in black, red, and yellow; engraved mining vignette at head of first page. Horizontal and vertical folds. Near fine. Originally entered on December 27, 1880, the details of Griffin's claim are entered in ink on the first page, ending with a long physical description of the plat, extending well onto the second page. The drawing of the plat follows on a separate inserted leaf. The third page contains further details, culminating with the seal of the General Land Office, and the April 15, 1882 ink secretarial signature of President Chester A. Arthur, followed by the signatures of the Secretary and Recorder of the General Land Office. Also certified and signed on May 26, 1883 by Bart Robins, Recorder, State of Colorado, County of Gilpin.
