Nearly Complete Voice of the Turtle
Ancient Coin Club of America. THE VOICE OF THE TURTLE / NORTH AMERICAN JOURNAL OF NUMISMATICS. Volumes I–VIII (Cedar Falls, etc., 1962–1969), complete except for one issue (Volume II, No. 4). Varying formats, mostly 8vo, original printed paper covers. Very good to fine. A virtually complete set, including the extremely rare first volume. The first four issues are printed on paper about the size of a postcard; the first issue provides a membership list of 23 names, though Harold Roepe, the founder of the ACCA, kept his own name off the list (his name is very rarely mentioned in the publication). While the publication took on a more professional appearance with the third volume, its publication schedule remained erratic. Volumes I and II each comprised six issues; Volume III had only three; Volumes IV–VI each had twelve; Volume VII had six; and Volume VIII had three. This appears to be the most complete set we have ever handled. Clain-Stefanelli 966.
