Rogers, Edgar. THE COPPER COINAGE OF THESSALY. London: Spink & Son, 1932. 8vo, later tan quarter morocco; spine with six raised bands, lettered in brown; brown endpapers; original printed card covers bound in. (2), 199, (5) pages, interleaved; illustrated throughout. Fine or nearly so. A classic work, very scarce and still useful. Clain-Stefanelli 2444. Daehn 3880: “Begins with a description of the geography and history of Thessaly. Relates the coin types to the local legends, heroes, and gods. Discusses the Thessalian Confederacy. Presents a catalogue of 577 copper coins, including some Roman Provincial issues, arranged by mint city or tribe, or by Roman emperor. Indicates coin sizes but not weights. The main types are photographed throughout. Includes a general index as well as indices of types, magistrates, and emperors.”
