John McCullough, in The Literature of Political Economy, terms Jenkinson’s treatise a “work of great and deserved authority [that] comprises a greater amount of information respecting the coins of the kingdom ... than is perhaps to be met with in any other publication.” Leitzmann 79. Ex Henry B.H. Beaufoy, F.R.S., with his engraved armorial bookplate. Beaufoy (1785–1851) amassed an enormous library of over 25,000 volumes that included the first four folios of Shakespeare. His collection of trader, tavern and coffee-house tokens was published by Jacob Henry Burn in 1853 (and again in 1855).
