Order of the Phoenix
A Grand Cross Set of the 1st type (awarded 1926 – 1935) with “ETTA”
monograms, meaning “from my ashes reborn…”: sash badge, 61x57 mm,
in bright polished, gilt silver and white enamel, superimposed by a fine,
detailed gilt phoenix rising from the flames, the reverse, accurately polished
by hand, with two rivets; small upper loop and circular suspension ring;
original, silk full length sash with bow; breast star, 85 mm, in silver with
smooth, convex and concave rays, gilt phoenix to the centre; polished reverse
with three rivets and broad pin; in the original, red-brown case of issue
with gold embossed Phoenix on the lid; the inner cushion with maker’s
mark of Arthus Bertrand, Paris.
A beautiful group of the finest rare, French manufacture, Extremely fine
