GREAT BRITAIN
An important Order of the Star of India Group of 6 attributed to Major General H.R. Hopwood
The Most Exalted Order of the Star of India: Companion’s badge in gold with centre medallion made as a cameo with the portrait of the young Queen Victoria facing left; blue enameled outer circlet with the Order’s motto “HEAVEN’S GUIDE OUR LIGHT” made of chiselled silver letters, all set with brilliants; gold border with baroque ornaments five-pointed star suspension in silver, grooved ribbon ring;
- Queen’s India Medal 1900 with cursive engraved naming “Captn. Hopwood. 3.d Bo. Lt. Cavy:”;
- The 1914-15 Star, officially impressed “MAJOR H.HOPWOOD 33. LT. CAV.”;
- War Medal 1914-1918, officially impressed “MAJ. GEN. H.R. HOPWOOD.”;
- Victory Medal 1914-1918, officially impressed “MAJ. GEN. H.R. HOPWOOD.”;
- Serbia: Order of the White Eagle with Swords, Knight’s badge in gilt silver and enamels.
Court mounted, extremely fine condition. A medal bar belonged to a cavalry officer, with an interesting career; an extensive research about the history and the owner of this group is attached. With 109 diamonds for a total of 0.16 ct. I RR!
