Description

PHOENICIA. Tyre. 126/5 BC-AD 65/6. Half Shekel (Silver, 21 mm, 7.00 g, 1 h), uncertain date. Laureate head of Melkart to right, lion skin tied around neck. Rev. TYPOY IEPAΣ KAI AΣYΛOY Eagle standing left on prow with palm frond behind; in field to left, date above club; in field to right, monogram; between the eagle's legs, Punic letter. HGC 10, 358. The obverse struck somewhat off center and with light deposits, otherwise, very fine.

From an old Swiss collection, formed in the 1970s.
