★ A very rare tetradrachm of Caracalla from Hieropolis ★

SYRIA, Cyrrhestica. Hieropolis. Caracalla, 198-217. Tetradrachm (Billon, 26 mm, 13.15 g, 12 h), 215-217. ΑΥΤ•Κ•Μ•ΑΝΤΩΝЄΙΝΟC CЄΒ• Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to left, seen from front. Rev. ΔΗΜΑΡΧ•ЄΞ•ΥΠΑΤΟC TO•Δ Eagle with spread wings standing facing, head to right and holding wreath in beak; between the eagle's legs, lion walking right. Prieur 939 ( same dies ). Very rare. Slightly porous, otherwise, good very fine.
