ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Marwan II ibn Muhammad, AH 127-132 / AD 744-750. Fals (Bronze, 17 mm, 3.07 g, 11 h), struck under governor Marwan ibn Bashir, Hims, AH 126-130 = AD 744-748. Jerboa to right; in outer margin, 'in the name of Allah this fals was struck in Hims' in Kufic. Rev. 'bi-amr Marwan bin Bashir' in three lines in Kufic; around, legend in Kufic. SICA II, 1161f var. (Jerboa left). An interesting coin with a lovely rendering of a jerboa on the obverse. Minor deposits, otherwise, very fine.
