INDIA, Post-Mauryan (Punjab). Taxila (local coinage). AE (Bronze, 13 mm, 1.00 g, 6 h), Anonymous type, Taxila city state (Pushkalavati), circa 2nd-1st century BC. 3-arched hill surmounted by a crescent. Rev. Tree in railing flanked by two adorants. Apparently unpublished. Very fine.
From a collection of coins from Central Asia.
This reverse of this issue shows two adorants worshipping a sacred tree. Perhaps they are cult figures such as the six-headed goddess Shashti and her consort Karttikeya.
