★ An elegant aureus of Hadrian ★

Hadrian, 117-138. Aureus (Gold, 20 mm, 7.30 g, 6 h), Rome, 125-128. HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS Laureate head of Hadrian to right, with slight drapery on his left shoulder. Rev. COS•III Hadrian, in military attire, on horseback to right, holding lance in his right hand. BMC 435. Calicó 1228. Cohen 414 var. (no drapery). RIC 187d. RIC II, Part 3, 778. An elegant coin with a very attractive portrait. Nearly extremely fine.
